At MIS, our mission is protecting our members! The MIS umbrella of protection covers our members in many ways. Our proprietary database contains millions of names of individuals and companies who have had various types of problems. Much of this information comes to us from our members themselves. When a member firm has had a problem, sustained a loss, or encountered a "situation" that would cause them to note the account as "accept no further business", we can advise you of it.

In addition to direct reports from our members, MIS also gathers information from a wide array of sources. We maintain complete files on disciplinary actions by regulators and by the exchanges. We review numerous periodicals every day to gather additional information as to parties that have had problems that you should know about.

Additionally, to assist you in compliance with federal laws and regulations, we also cover all notices under OFAC, which mandates a prohibition on all dealings with specially designated countries and individuals (narcotics traffickers, terrorists, etc.). We also have included similar lists issued by other nations and inter-governmental organizations.

MIS has established a relationship with Experian. By using Experian's database for supplemental reports (i.e. Know your customer, and FICO scored credit reports), MIS can provide you with full USA PATRIOT Act compliance; and with the best credit reports available. By fully utilizing the MIS services, you will be able to be OFAC and USA PATRIOT Act compliant, and minimize your credit risk. In addition, MIS can also offer you the power of Metronet. This Experian product can assist you in getting updated addresses for any of your customers for whom you do not have the most current address. This should be a major part of your returned mail processing.

As a major source of protection against violators since 1977, MIS has the expertise and the technology to provide credit checking and due diligence to its members. From major broker/dealers to small regional banks, casinos, insurance companies and real-estate developers, all members of MIS are treated alike, and are equally important to us. MIS has a reputation that it has earned over the years as the most reliable, confidential credit source available. A member's identity and the member's customer information will never be divulged to anyone. There has never been, and there will never be, a breach of this confidence.
